Applications are now invited for MSc by Research opportunities based in Cranfield’s Centre for Thermal Energy Systems and Materials (CTEM). CTEM has a dynamic team that works alongside leading industrial and academic bioenergy and waste management partners to deliver high quality research, teaching, design and consultancy.
Successful applicants will be supervised by a member of academic staff in the centre to carry a one-year research project closely related to the key CTEM research activities including:
- Biomass and waste to energy technologies; Energy from Waste
- Composite and polymer/plastic recycling and remanufacturing
- Anaerobic fermentation technology
- Upcycling of materials from enhanced landfill mining
- Catalysis of synthetic gases and fuels;
- High pressure engineering and supercritical fluid technology;
- Industrial biotechnology;
- Energy storage and harvesting
- Process modelling and simulation.
Following the successful completion of the MSc by Research programme, an outstanding student may have the opportunity to be transferred onto a PhD programme.

Entry requirements
Applicants should have a first or second-class SWAG合集 honours degree or equivalent in a related science and engineering discipline, such as Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering. The candidate should be self-motivated, have good communication skills for regular interaction with stakeholders, with an interest for industrial research.
