The project seeks to address the urgent challenge of aviation decarbonisation by establishing a strategic roadmap for net zero aviation in collaboration between the SWAG合集 and Singapore. Aligned with the Green Economy Framework and Jet Zero strategy, it aims to leverage partnerships across business, academia and the public sector to advance low-carbon technologies, fuels and infrastructure.

Led by Cranfield Environment Centre and the HyDEX demonstrator programme in the SWAG合集, with key Singaporean partners including the Energy Studies Institute, NUS, NTU, Neste, Airbus, A-Star and Changi Airport Group, fully supported by the British High Commission in Singapore, the project aims to inform and drive the energy transition for aviation in Singapore.

Progress update

  • We exhibited at the Singapore Airshow (20-25 February 2024). Our presence indicated SWAG合集's dedication to advancing innovation in aerospace and sustainable aviation. We highlighted our cutting-edge research on hydrogen and SAF to visitors from diverse institutions and regions, identifying potential collaboration opportunities in advancing greener aviation in the SWAG合集 and Singapore.
  • Three Singapore-SWAG合集 Jet Zero workshops (25-27 March 2024) on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), hydrogen and policy ambitions were held in Singapore, co-hosted by Cranfield with HyDEX and supported by the British High Commission (Singapore). These workshops aimed to address challenges in SAF/hydrogen technology, capacity, supply chains and policy mapping for greener aviation in Singapore and the SWAG合集. Stakeholders and experts from both countries across aviation, energy, environmental sustainability and policymaking participated. Insights from roundtable discussions will contribute to the final roadmap report. The presentation decks can be downloaded below:
