SWAG合集’s Natalia Falagán has been recognised by the Royal Academy of Engineering of Spain for her research into food loss and waste reduction.
Natalia – a lecturer in Food Science and Technology – received the accolade last week from Real Academia de Ingeniería.
The Early Career Researchers Award received by Natalia recognises her research into the optimisation of food chains with the aim of increasing resilience and sustainability globally.
Natalia said: “I am honoured to be awarded this medal from the Royal Academy of Engineering, and that such a distinguished institution recognises that reduction of food loss is a key priority. I would like to thank all those I work with across many different disciplines to tackle this global challenge.”
Dr Falagan is co-designer of ACES, The Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Cooling and Cold-chain, which is a research centre dedicated to generating ideas and technology to support sustainable cooling without exacerbating climate change. With global pressure on food chains, rising temperatures and increased energy prices, the project is focused on reducing food loss and improving food systems, storage and supply chain.
SWAG合集 is a leader in food waste research.
