My Research Project: Hybrid Surrogate-Based 3D Digital Twin Model for Offshore Wind Turbine Operations and Maintenance

Aim/Objectives:

The specific objectives are:

1. To develop a digital twin of a wind turbine (critical components) that accurately simulates its physical behaviour and can be used to optimize its operation and maintenance.

2. Develop novel machine learning algorithms to analyze synthetic and real sensor data from the digital twin and use this information to optimize maintenance schedules and reduce downtime.

3. To assess the technical and economic benefits of using digital twins to optimize the performance of wind farms and compare these benefits to traditional methods of wind farm operation and maintenance.

4. To identify any limitations or challenges associated with the use of digital twins for wind farm optimization and propose strategies for addressing these challenges.

5. To explore the potential of digital twin technology for optimizing the performance of wind farms, including the use of predictive maintenance and real-time monitoring.
