Contact Dr Mahsa Baniasadi

Background

Mahsa Baniasadi is a research fellow with years of experience in R&D working in industry and academia on conversion of waste streams to energy and value-added product though chemical and biotechnological routes. Some projects she was involved with are metal recovery from solid waste, conversion of biomass to energy and bioremediation of water/wastewater contaminated with organic and inorganic pollutants. In 2023, her research in industry was recognised by "Best KTP Award in Changing the World Category" and "Time Higher Education Award for Knowledge Exchange/Trasfer Initiative of the Year" for her succes in bridging the gap between laboratory research and industrial commercialisation.

Current activities

Mahsa joined EBIC (Environmental Biotechnology Innovation Center) at SWAG合集 in September 2024 which is a World-class interdisciplinary engineering biology research hub for the development of innovative environmental solutions. As a chemical engineer in the hub she collaborates with 9 other universities with the focus on process aspects and bioreactor operation and design in lab and pilot scale in areas such as biodegradation of PFAS, microplastic degradation and metal recovery (bioleaching).
