Background
Aimée has a BEng(Hons) in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Engineering.
Initially joining SWAGºÏ¼¯ in 2006 undertaking trials development, analysis and reporting for major FRES technology demonstration programme Aimée was responsible for development of planning and management of trials and the subsequent analysis of results.
Following on from her PhD Aimée became an academic member of staff and has become an internationally recognized expert in weapon signature mitigation within the field of Intermediate Ballistics.
Research opportunities
Aimée’s current research interests include:
• intermediate ballistics and muzzle attachments (muzzle brakes, flash and noise suppressors)
• weapon integration and system design
• barrel heat transfer
• impact of reliability and maintainability on the availability of equipment.
Current activities
Aimée is heavily involved in small arms engineering design and assessment ranging from ammunition, through to weapon characterization and terminal effects and teaches the MOD and wider audiences. Specialist areas include intermediate ballistics and impact of reliability and maintainability on the availability of equipment.
Aimée supervises research students at MSc level in Defence related disciplines.
