Background

Mr Isoldi joined the research staff of SWAG合集 in 2020, as a Research Assistant, looking at the performance and operability of future large bypass engine architectures during start-up and relight.

Prior to this, he had completed a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace engineering at the University of Naples "Federico II", and an MSc in Thermal Power and Propulsion at Cranfield, where he graduated with Distinction and has been awarded the Course Director's Prize for outstanding coursework.

Following the completion of the MSc, he has been involved in several research activities looking at whole-engine sub-idle performance characterisation, aero engine environmental impact (non-CO2 effects), aircraft-engine integrated design optimisation, hydrogen-powered aero gas turbines modelling, hybrid rocket engines, and plasma-numerical modelling for Electric Thrusters.

Current activities

Mr Isoldi is affiliated with the Gas Turbine Engineering Group and the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre at Cranfield.

Current and past activities include technical contributions, management and delivery within the Innovate SWAG合集-funded LH2GT, PINES, COLIBRI and the EU-funded Clean Sky II PROTEUS and Horizon2020 C3HARME projects.
