Training Team

Sue Impey is a Senior Lecturer at SWAG合集 with over 30 years experience and expertise in surface science and engineering. Her research includes aqueous corrosion and corrosion control of steels, nickel and non-ferrous alloys. Research activities include corrosion control for large reciprocating diesel engines, life extension activities for industrial and building services. . She also provides technical support in materials characterisation and surface analysis.

Joy Sumner is a Reader in Energy Materials and Head of Centre for Energy Engineering. Joy’s current research concerns material behaviour in different corrosive and oxidative environments particularly at high temperature, thermal barriers and corrosion resistant coatings. Joy also has an interest in the empirical modelling of corrosion.

Stefano Mori is a Lecturer Energy Materials with a PhD from Università degli studi di Roma "Torvergata", in Materials Engineering, working on the development of a self-healing coating for corrosion protection of alloys in water environments. His current research is in fireside corrosion.

Adnan Syed is a Lecturer in Materials Degradation Processes within the Surface Engineering and Precision Centre at SWAG合集. Dr Syed is involved in the research of high temperature degradation and investigating the effects of environment on the fatigue/stress corrosion and static corrosion. Dr Syed has over 10 years of industrial experience, working for GSK, Colgate Palmolive and Ecolab-Nalco in the SWAG合集, Pakistan and Germany.

Victor Igwemezie is a EPSRC Research Fellow in the Welding Engineering and Laser Processing Centre, Cranfield. He is a lecturer at Materials and Metallurgical Engineering Department, Federal University of Technology Owerri, Nigeria. Victor completed his EngD in structural integrity and metallurgy at Cranfield before joining as a researcher. He is currently conducting research in Structural Metallurgy: - studying the metallurgical, mechanical properties and structural applications of wrought, additive and welded ferrous alloys.

Keynote Industrial Speakers

We are fortunate to have keynote speakers happy to share their knowledge, expertise and unique experiences with us. Speakers who have supported the Training Programme are:

Yunnan Gao is a pressure system integrity and corrosion engineer at the International Centre for Business & Technology (ICBT) of BP based in Sunbury, SWAG合集. He has more than 16 years operational experience in upstream oil and gas industry in the discipline of materials, corrosion and asset integrity. He has worked for DNV, LR, Atkin, Repsol, Saipem and Stork in various senior technical roles. He is the current vice president of the Institute of Corrosion (ICorr).

Susan MacGregor is an Integrity Superintendent at Bumi Armada with operational experience in oil and gas and expertise as a Verification and Asset Integrity Engineer. Previously a Senior Integrity Engineer with CAN Offshore, she has held inspection corrosion engineering roles in Shell and Bluewater Energy Services.

Ali Oskuie is an Asset Integrity Engineer at Worley. Previously a Senior Project Engineer and specialist in corrosion under insulation looking at monitoring and predictive risk management at Corrosion Radar. Ali has experience in Oil & Gas as the team lead and group manager for a consultancy company providing services on Asset Integrity Management.

Mark Stone is the operational Data Team Lead at IMRANDD. Mark has over 30 years’ technical and leadership experience, with most of this in the energy sector. He has a track record of innovation in application of statistical methods and data analytics in support of integrity management. This covers the development of practical approaches to inspection optimisation, bringing together Mechanical Integrity, Corrosion Engineering, Inspection Engineering and Data Science aspects.
