SWAG合集 is proud to celebrate the achievements of its alumni recognised in the King鈥檚 New Year Honours List 2025. The list features a remarkable array of individuals whose contributions span sectors such as the economy, transport, net zero innovation, education, and defence. These honours highlight the outstanding impact Cranfield alumni continue to have across industries and public service.

Knighthoods 
Among those receiving Knighthoods are: 

  • Sir Warren East CBE (MBA 1990, Honorary Graduate 2011), former CEO of Rolls-Royce, for his services to the economy and to Net Zero. 
  • Sir Andrew Haines OBE (Honorary Graduate 2023), CEO of Network Rail, for his contributions to the transport sector and the economy. 
  • Sir Andy Street CBE (Executive Development Workshop 2004), former Mayor of the West Midlands, for his commitment to public service. 

CBEs (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) 
Cranfield alumni recognised with CBEs include: 

  • Annika Bosanquet CBE (BGP 2018), Founder of byLegacy, for services to business. 
  • Richard Bruce CBE (Project Leadership Programme 2015), Director at the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles, for his work on decarbonising transport. 
  • Peter Thompson CBE (PhD School of Industrial and Manufacturing Science 1992), CEO of the National Physical Laboratory, for his contributions to science and technology. 

OBEs (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) 
Alumni awarded OBEs include: 

  • Sally Fenton OBE (MBA 2002), Head of the Built Environment Innovation Team at the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, for her work in Net Zero innovation. 
  • Carolyn Griffiths OBE (Honorary Graduate 2013, Cranfield Directors Programme 2016), Senior Railway Engineer, for services to the rail industry, to transport safety and to the engineering profession. 
  • Mark Lawrie OBE (Management and Leadership Programme 2014, NGB Development Directors Programme 2016), CEO of StreetGames, for his contributions to education and young people. 

MBEs (Member of the Order of the British Empire) 
Notable recipients of MBEs include: 

  • Terence Crolley MBE (MSc Social Policy 1981), Chair of Trustee Board, The Whitechapel Centre, for his commitment to tackling homelessness in Merseyside. 
  • Simon Macqueen MBE (General Management Programme 2014), Director of Strategy, Sport England, for services to sport. 
  • Carol Sweetenham MBE (Project Leadership Programme 2016), Chair of Aspire, for her work providing employment opportunities for disadvantaged people. 

BEM (British Empire Medal) 
Alumni receiving a BEM include: 

  • Kenneth White BEM (BGP 2013), Chairman, Frost Landscapes Construction, for his work with children and young people with paediatric cancer. 

Military Honours 
A significant number of Cranfield鈥檚 military alumni were also recognised in the Military Honours: 

  • Lt Gen Sir Tom Copinger-Symes KCB CBE (Honorary Graduate 2023) who received a Knighthood. 
  • Major General Gerard Ewart-Brookes CB (MSc Defence Logistics Management 2003) and Air Marshal Paul Godfrey CB OBE (Advanced Defence Senior Leader鈥檚 Programme 2020). 
  • Brigadier Lucinda Westerman CBE (MSc Defence Technology 2005) and Brigadier Jonathan Bartholomew CBE OBE (MA Military Studies 2005), and 
  • Brigadier Stuart Nasse OBE (Exec MBA Defence 2011) and Colonel Lance Foster OBE (MSc Battlespace Technology 2013) were among others recognised for their outstanding military careers.
