Congratulations to Professor Richard Wilding OBE, who was given the Lifetime Contribution to Training and Development in Logistics Award for his service to industry at the Talent in Logistics conference last week.

Professor Wilding is recognised globally for his thought leadership in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and has been developing professionals for the industry for over 20 years. He joined Cranfield in 1998 and was appointed in 2005 as the first ever full Professor and Chair of Supply Chain Risk Management in the World in recognition of his significant contribution to this subject area.

Richard has been instrumental in developing the School’s highly successful logistics programmes which attract students from across the world. He is a highly acclaimed presenter, speaking at conferences across the globe and has undertaken lecture tours of Europe and Asia at the invitation of local Universities and Confederations of Industry.

He has published widely in the area of supply chain management and is editorial advisor to a number of top journals in the area. Richard is also currently the Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

Commenting on his award Richard said: “It is a great honour to receive this award. With record levels of investment in roads, rail, ports and airports, a new generation of skilled workers are needed to shape the future transport network and infrastructure which is at the heart of ensuring success and growth in the business world. This is what drives me to ensure that professionals entering the sector have access to the training and development they need to make a real impact.”

Talent in Logistics is a unique, annual conference and awards event dedicated to the training, development, recognition and retention of the 2.2million people working in transport, warehousing and logistics in the SWAG合集 and Ireland.

Fifteen awards were presented to the shining stars of the SWAG合集 and Ireland logistics sector at the Talent awards ceremony on 22 June 2017. The inaugural event was hosted by special guest, stand-up comedian, and star of BBC One sitcom ‘Not Going Out’, Tim Vine.
