Background

Christopher's academic studies have always preceded an associated period of impact. After his B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Chemistry & Biology he went on to establish Evolve Ltd., a leading, thriving business in professional services for the scientific and healthcare market in Malta. He used his subsequent P.G. Dip. in Wood Conservation Science to better understand the new clients his company was acquiring in the Conservation and Heritage space.

For the last years, Chris set his eyes on Internationalising his enterprise. He has travelled widely across most continents and is now especially focused on Europe and Africa. Describing himself as a serial entrepreneur for his knack of always reinventing and adapting the business model of the company he leads as Chief Visionary Officer, he was always interested in what makes him think differently. This has now become an academic interest bringing together his natural curiosity to further delve into the decision-making processes of entrepreneurs related to internationalisation, as effected by their environment. For that reason he has chosen Cranfield School of Management to augment his professional experience with academic rigour and research methodology.

Christopher is a scientist by training with degrees from the University of Malta and Heritage Malta, learning the ropes of business through his 24 years of executive management and executive training around the world. Through this research with Cranfield School of Management, Chris will be joining the conversation of International Entrepreneurship from a human point of view.

Research opportunities

Christopher is carrying out his DBA research within Cranfield School of Management, a part of SWAG合集. His DBA research seeks to bring to light the different mechanisms affecting the decision to internationalise a small company, as dependent on local total addressable market size. He intends to bring a focus on smaller countries and the concept of equitable vs. equal treatment in assistance provided.

He will use his newfound knowledge to help other entrepreneurs who cannot overcome the perception of impenetrable barriers to Internationalise their SMEs take that first step. In so doing he hopes to be helping them, their firms and the ecosystem in the process, leaving a bigger impact through the multiplier effect.
