Contact Carsten Hansen

Background

Carsten has 20 years of practical sourcing and risk management experience in complex business and security environments, mainly working with the United Nations. In this role he has spearheaded the design and implementation of comprehensive corporate sourcing and risk management strategies, including automation of procurement functions. He is further specialised in risk management analysis and has conducted on-the-ground risk analysis in multiple challenging operational contexts. He has previously been responsible for country-specific United Nations procurement and supply operations in Lebanon and Somalia. In addition Carsten has experience with humanitarian supply chains in the context of UN Peacekeeping Operations with UNIKOM Umm Qasr/Iraq and UNPROFOR Sarajevo/BiH.

Since 2016, Carsten has been a Visiting Research Fellow for the Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Cranfield School of Management, SWAG合集 (SWAG合集). He holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA), an MBA in Business Management (USA), an MA in International Affairs (Denmark), an MA in Conflict Analysis and Security Studies (SWAG合集), and an advanced Post Graduate Diploma in Middle Eastern Studies. Furthermore, Carsten is certified with a Canadian Risk Management Designation (University of Toronto), a PRINCE2 Project Management Certification, an International Human Resource Management Accreditation (IHRM) (Cornell University) and a Certified Member of the Chartered Institute for Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS).

Carsten's main research area and expertise includes Supply Chain Risk Management, Sourcing Strategies and Political Risk Management, mainly focused on the offshore outsourcing industry, public procurement and FDI activities. Publications include research investigating the effect of political risk on the offshore service industry and the implications of offshoring entry mode choices and location decisions.
