Chris LindseyChris Lindsey, CEO of Lindsey Group

Since taking the helm of his family’s nearly 100-year-old HVAC engineering company, Chris has striven to bring sustainability to the heart of the company. After completing a Help to Grow programme, he refocused the business on renewable energy and helping businesses and the public save energy, while also saving money and reducing carbon emissions.

Lindsey Group are market-leaders in the heating and cooling systems sector, supporting all scales of buildings, from residential homes to major institutions, including a recent major system upgrade for Essex Business School in Colchester.

Based in Innovation Centre Knowledge Gateway on the University of Essex campus, Chris gives his time to mentor other business leaders, as well as helping to develop his team and young workers at the beginning of their careers.

Chris’s passion for environmentalism extends to his own home, which he uses as a ‘built environment lab’ to test new ways to improve energy systems.

Alan RanceAlan Rance, owner and MD of Midas Pattern Co Ltd, Foundry Patternmaker, Chartered Scientist (CSci), Fellow of the Institute of Materials (FIMMM) and Member of the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers (MICME).

Following a successful engineering apprenticeship in Foundry Patternmaking I started Midas Pattern Company in August 1989. Midas now employs around 100 people and is the largest dedicated PU moulder in the SWAGºÏ¼¯. We make the largest, the heaviest, the most complex and the highest quality polyurethane mouldings in the world. Only using oil based earth chemistry for the production of life enhancing & lifesaving medical and analytical device enclosures I lead the company with a respectful, down to earth, hardworking environmentally responsible ethic.

Since April 2019 I have made the fight against Climate Change my primary objective, the #midasgreeninitiative has documented our journey to carbon neutrality in 14 months and onto Carbon Net-Zero in just 20 months. I strive every day to make the world a greener place and I ensure the platform we have is used to encourage others to do everything in their power to arrest the onslaught of Climate Change as quickly as possible.

In April 2023 the #MidasGreenInitiative received Royal Recognition when Midas was awarded The Kings Award for Enterprise – Sustainable Development.
