CFI was originally established as the home for the many forensic-related disciplines already active at SWAG合集, such as ballistics, explosives, materials science, engineering failures and digital forensics.
These were greatly enhanced by the addition of Forensic Archaeology and Anthropology, making us the only university in the world to accommodate these disciplines within a science and technology centre.

At the heart of our teaching is the Forensic Modular Master's programme, which is complemented by a suite of ancillary short courses. The programme is regarded as very high quality by the , which is a professional body representing forensic sciences. It is internationally recognised and has around 3,000 members in 60 countries. The majority of our MSc courses are accredited by the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences.
